A very rare Louis Vuitton Malle en Zinc cabin trunk, circa 1888. These trunk's are to be found in the best collections and in the Louis Vuitton museum.

They are affectionately known as explorers trunks due to the Hemetic seal the zinc covering provides, which protects the contents during travels through the tropics and far away places.

This model dates to circa 1888 as the interior label shows the Oxford Street address lined through and having the address for The Strand in London replacing it.

One of the earliest examples we have ever had, having the two square locks to the front. This piece has an ancient zinc repair along the front, which adds to the mystique and character of it.
